The Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) has appointed a new marketing manager as head of professional services Ian Lacy leaves to join Everris. Ian has been with IOG for six years and chief executive Geoff Webb said "Ian has made a major and significant contribution to the IOG in shaping our approach to education and training"
Meanwhile Karen Maxwell has been appointed by the IOG to the newly-created role of Head of Commercial Development and Communications.
Karen was previously employed as managing editor of Sports Management magazine at the Leisure Media Company, where she enjoyed close relations with sports administrators and national governing bodies of sport. Prior to this position she managed a travel trade magazine in Hong Kong. She has also been a sports promoter on several national sports events, such as Benson & Hedges events (including snooker, tennis, fly fishing, curling and golf), the PGA Suntory World Cup, Dunhill Masters and British Open golf tournaments.
Commenting on her appointment, IOG Chief Executive Geoff Webb says: “Karen has a strong background and excellent track record in media and links across a range of sports bodies and individuals, having most recently covered the lead up and implementation of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, from a facilities point of view. She will be investigating commercial opportunities for the IOG - working with the industry as a whole as well as looking at how we are positioned externally.”
