On the EU Referendum

Your views on the EU Referendum
Below are a selection of your responses to the optional question we posed last week -

How do you think a potential exit from the European Union could affect our industry?

People who voted Leave said:
  • The UK should make its own decisions about the turfcare industry, since we have probably more of an interest in it than most, if not all EU countries. The EU is cumbersome, inflexible and undemocratic. As to trade, why would our continental suppliers deny themselves the opportunity to sell their products in the UK?
  • An exit would potentially free the UK from bureaucracy / red tape and legislation concerning use of herbicides and pesticides, that are currently under review, or subject to being banned, eg. glyphosate.
  • It could only get better.
  • Better legislation within our industry.
  • Not at all as we buy British turf.
People who voted Remain said:
  • Leaving the EU means an uncertain economic future is ahead which could threaten jobs in the turf care sector and therefore threaten standards that the industry has worked so hard to achieve.
  • Confusion and uncertainty will be detrimental to all aspects of business. A vote to leave will perpetuate the uncertainty. A vote to remain within the EU will give consistency to trade across borders.
  • An exit would have a serious affect on farming industry.
