Pontefract & District's course manager David Mulholland has praised the golf club's recent investment in Toro irrigation, reporting "round-the-clock" control since its installation.
While proud of its historic roots dating back to 1904, the West Yorkshire club also embraces modern technology, and was in fact home to the first complete installation of Toro Infinity sprinklers with Lynx Control System.

In operation since spring this year, ready for the high season and dry weather, David says the new system is more efficient, controllable, and offers great flexibility.
"Our previous system comprised of old PVC pipe that was glued, and the glue was breaking down; it was a real liability. Not only did we have leaks, but during dry spells, when we rely heavily on irrigation, it wasn't delivering," he explains.
"The new sprinklers are great; easy to access, easy to service and have cut right down on watering time," David adds.
Now able to operate the entire system from his mobile phone or laptop, he singles portability out as a key benefit: "For situations when we apply a product to the turf, for example, and need to water immediately after, being able to use my mobile while out on the course is fantastic. I can stop it should golfers approach and not have to interrupt play.
"And if I've set a watering programme and by the time I'm at home it's started to rain, I can easily stop it from there too! Couple that with easy-to-adjust sprinklers and I have round-the-clock control able to choose exactly how I water and when I water," he says.
Installed by local Toro dealer Full Circle Irrigation Ltd, based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, David says that as well as being impressed himself, the club's management were also happy and surprised how little disruption there was during installation.
