GOLF-COARSE FISHING! Salmon found in bunker after storm
More fishy tales of the aftermath of Storm Desmond, this time from north of the border.
Dylan Meinen, Assistant Greenkeeper at Peterculter Golf Club in Aberdeenshire, was checking the course following the storm and was shocked to find a salmon swimming in a bunker on the third hole.
Dylan posted a video of his discovery on his Facebook page saying, "I’ve seen it all now. A salmon stuck in the bunker at the 3rd after the flood.”
Dylan who radioed his boss Course Manager Paul Sharp for assistance, told BIGGA's website, "Paul didn’t believe me at first when I told him there was a salmon swimming in one of our bunkers, but then he came over and saw it for himself.
“The first plan was to scoop it out with some netting, but in the end it sort of beached itself so Paul grabbed it."
Paul added, “I’m a fisherman so I know how to handle them even though it was quite large, and probably weighed about six pounds. I managed to get it by the tail. It still had plenty of life in it, so I simply walked over to the river and placed it back in. It swam off quite happily."
