POTENTIAL MONEY SAVER
With hazardous chemical disposal service

Sherriff Amenity is launching a new service to tackle the disposal of hazardous chemicals, and in particular revoked products.

The company has joined forces with Chem Clear, a new company set up specifically to address a problem which faces many businesses, clubs and educational establishments and is costing more to resolve since the HSE instigated the Fee for Intervention scheme 18 months ago.

Announcing the new service, Mark Pyrah, Amenity Director at Sherriff Amenity said the aim was to help customers avoid falling foul of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulation (COSHH) and getting saddled with a sizeable HSE bill.

"It's a triple whammy if you're caught with even a minor breach of regulations," he said.

"You may have to pay for a costly un-announced HSE visit. You pay for the report that's subsequently made, and on top of that you still have to pay for any necessary disposal. By offering the specialist knowledge and skills of Chem Clear we will be keeping amenity and turf interests away from the HSE 'penalty area' and saving them money."

All any business or club has to do to use the service is provide details of any questionable chemical product and the volume stored, along with their contact details.

A quotation for its collection and disposal together with required paperwork is then provided. Chem Clear is fully licensed to collect and dispose of chemicals from any site in England, Scotland and Wales.

As a reminder, any user of hazardous materials - and that of course includes groundsmen, greenkeepers and landscapers - has a legal obligation to ensure that storage, monitoring and disposal of all chemicals is carried out correctly and audited.
