VANDALS DESTROY CRICKET PITCH
Club in Northants targeted

The Northants Herald & Post has reported that Irthlingborough Town Cricket Club are the latest local club to fall foul of mindless vandalism.

Over the weekend their pitch was horrendously torn up by cars tearing round and round their pitch, cutting up the surface terribly.

The Northants Herald & Post pictured the vandalism

The local paper reports that the club now fears that it won't be able to re-turf the pitch in time for the new cricket season which starts in four months.

The club released a statement saying, "Our cricket square was vandalised late yesterday (Saturday) by cars being repeatedly driven over it.

"There is a lot of hard work and time by our groundsmen that goes into keeping this up to the standard required even through the closed season. We also spent a lot of money on ground treatment at the end of the season.

"The damage is so bad, it may be difficult to get it ready for the start of the season. The police have been informed."

If anyone has any information about the incident, contact Northants Police on 101 or email the club itself at iborocc@gmail.com.
