The Lytham St Annes Express has reported on how a high-tech drone has been used above St Annes Old Links to give everyone a bird's eye view of the course.
And it has also helped ground staff get a different view of the bunkers, fairways and greens they tend.
The paper reports that drone idea came up by chance when club pro Daniel Webster, and course manager Stuart Hogg were discussing marketing the course to a wider audience.
Club member Peter Barrett suggested using the drone designed by his son Ali to give a different perspective of the course on the club’s website.
Ali had been developing the drone to film friends kitesurfing and wakeboarding.
The idea of filming the 18 holes from above was welcomed by Stuart who would also benefit by being given a holistic overview of the entire course.
The results have now been put on the club’s website, giving viewers a swooping view of each individual hole.
