TURF SHOW PULLS IN MACHINERY DEALERS
Good crowd for TGA event
by Mike Beardall

The TGA Turf Show at Fineturf's HQ near Grantham, Lincolnshire

MORE than 250 turf industry visitors were at the TGA (Turfgrass Growers Association) Turf Show on Tuesday at Simon Hutton's Fineturf HQ just outside Grantham in Lincolnshire.

With 23 exhibitors, and a strong machinery contingent, the organisers were delighted with the turnout.

TGA chief executive Tim Mudge said:"It was great to have so many people supporting us, including machinery companies and seed producers."

Exhibitors included BLEC Global who launched the new Blecavator Vibra-Screen Stoneburier on the demonstration ground.

They also sold two machines - an eight-foot Turfmaker Seeder and a BCS 9hp two-wheel tractor fitted with a 60cm Power Box Rake.

"The Turf Show was excellent for us," says BLEC managing director Gary Mumby. "We have arranged post-show demos and made very useful new contacts."

Richard Campey, md of Campey Turfcare Systems, was demonstrating the Votex, Dakota, Koro and Imants range of machines, alongside Trimax with their 30-foot wide gang mower - the largest on the market.

"This is an ideal machine for turf growers," said Richard. "We have taken a lot of enquiries."

Among the other machinery and product exhibitors were John Deere, Bomford, JCB, The Grass Group, Kubota, Broadwood, Trebro, Brouwer, Wolds Engineering, Cargotec, Burdens Group, RC Setchfield Ltd and Rain Bird.

Seed and turf product producers included Everris, Rigby Taylor, DLF Trifolium, British Seed Houses, Limagrain and Barenbrug.

Jayne Leyland of Rigby Taylor said: "This is our first time at the Turf Show and the visitors have been real quality people from the industry."

Richard Brown of British Seed Houses said: "We have made interesting new contacts and met existing clients."

DLF Trifolium's Derek Smith said: "The Turf Show is always a good one for us. This year we have made some very useful contacts."

Fineturf owner Simon Hutton said: "We were delighted to be hosting the event again and to be blessed with the hottest weather of the year."

Visitors saw machinery demonstrated and turf lifted and palleted with the latest sophisticated equipment from manufacturers such as Brouwer.

The TGA hold their show every two years.
