TORO CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL
Commemorated in US and UK

July was a month of celebration for the Toro Company, as it celebrated its 100th anniversary on 10 July 2014.

At the company's American headquarters in Bloomington, Minnesota, more than 2,000 employees, retirees, customers and other guests joined in a celebration. Among the guests were Bloomington Mayor Gene Winstead and Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, who presented an official proclamation declaring "Toro Day" in the State of Minnesota.

Governor Dayton spoke of Toro's part in the state and community. "I don't think that the founder could have imagined 100 years ago that Toro would grow to be a Fortune 1000 company, or that more importantly, you'd be a leading corporate citizen in Minnesota. Your contributions to this state have been enormous," he said.

The UK arm of Toro, Hayter Limited, also recognised the milestone, and on Thursday 24th July the Hayter offices and factory at Spellbrook were mainly closed for the day, as staff and families enjoyed a day of celebrations. Hayter was also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the company's famous founder, Douglas Hayter.

During its centennial year, Toro's many locations around the world have focused on giving back to communities where employees live and work, and Hayter employees are taking part in a variety of these programmes including Toro's '100 Acts of Caring' initiative and planting 100 trees in each Toro community worldwide.

Full details of Toro's 100-year history can be found at their anniversary website.
