Hamish Dykes in his Polaris Ranger Diesel 900D
Established over fifty years, the company has amongst its customers the Dykes family, recent stars of the nightly BBC 2 series Lambing Live, with farmer/presenter Adam Henson, and presenter Kate Humble as their apprentices for a week.
Having dealt with John Dykes since the 1970s, Wm Rose and Sons were contacted by his son Hamish who is taking the reins in this generational farming family. A short while before the BBC show they needed to replace their existing UTV and had a number of machines on demonstration for several days. Their decision was to go with a new Polaris Ranger Diesel 900D a week or so later and it proved invaluable, taking the stage as part of Lambing Live.
The Ranger is used on the farm in the fields and hillsides for checking on and feeding the sheep. During lambing time, and on the show, it was fully employed towing the feeding snacker so the pregnant ewes got supplement food and vitamins to help with their pregnancy.
While the BBC series has drawn to a close, work never stops on the Dykes farm or for the Polaris, says Hamish
