GREENKEEPER 'CRUSHED' BY TREE
Worker on mower left fighting for life

A greenkeeper at Dibden Golf Centre near Southampton was left' 'fighting for his life' after a tree fell and crushed him whilst he was working on a ride-on lawnmower last Thursday.

South Central Ambulance Service

The BBC reported that emergency services were called  shortly after midday. The man, thought to be in his 40s, was trapped for nearly an hour, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

South Central Ambulance Service said the man was taken with "potentially life-threatening injuries" to Southampton General Hospital.

My Time Active, which runs the course on behalf of New Forest District Council, closed the course on Thursday, with it reopening to the public on Saturday.

The Southern Daily Echo reported that following the incident teams of specialists from Environmental Health had been on the course checking trees ahead of the reopening.

At the time of going to press there had been no further information on the condition of the injured worker.
