BUNNY BATTLE AT FAVERSHAM TOWN
Club in pitch battle with rabbits
Rabbits have been digging holes in the Faversham Town Football Club’s pitches. Kent Online reports that managers at the club are at the end of their tether as the burrowing creatures have set up camp on the playing fields in Salter’s Lane. Chairman Ray Leader says that they are running out of solutions and are tackling the problem on a daily basis, with new damage appearing every single day. Mr Leader is quoted by Kent Online saying, “We spent a lot of money on the pitches back in May and they were looking really good.
“But unfortunately, over the last month they have been completely decimated by rabbits.
“They continue to dig holes around the pitches and we have tried to deter them, we have tried to block off their entry, but nothing seems to be working.
“We think we are going to have to build a trench around the outside of the pitch and lay some wire to keep them out.
“The only alternative is getting rid of them completely and we wouldn’t want to do that unless it was really necessary.
“We fix the holes but the very next day we turn up and they’ve done it again. We don’t know what to do.
“Every day is a battle.”
Mr Leader believes that this year is particularly bad for the rabbits and despite getting rid of a mole dilemma last year, this is a lot more serious.
