HIGH TIMES AT CREWE!
Police donate cannabis farming equipment

Crewe Alexandra FC will be playing on a pitch maintained by seized cannabis farming equipment next season.

Police officers from the town have handed over the confiscated equipment used to grow the illegal drug to the Gresty Road club, reports the Crewe Chronicle.

Inspector Kate Woods told the local paper, "The cannabis farms were extensive and left us with a lot of kit which we knew could be put to good use by the club."

The kit includes specialist lamps, heaters and power connectors. It will be used by the club to help improve and maintain a playing surface which has come in for some criticism over recent years.

Crewe's stadium operation manager Bev Dyer said, "We would like to thank Crewe Police for the kind donation and we are sure the ground staff will be able to use the equipment to help with certain areas of the pitch."

The hydroponics kit came into possession of the police when they carried out a number of raids across the town in 2013.
