TURF LIFE
. . with TurfPro editor, Steve Gibbs

Shock is still reverberating around the industry at the tragic death of Brighton & Hove Albion groundsman, Matt Grimstone, killed at the Shoreham air crash.

This past weekend, the industry showed just how tight-knit and like an extended family it is when groundstaff up and down the country wore a black armband in memory of Matt and his Worthing United teammate Jacob Schilt - and of course all the other victims of this awful tradegy.

And hats off to the IOG for encouraging this show of solidarity. Excellent coverage was garnered in the national media and social media was abuzz with pictures and dedications of rememberance.

Southampton FC

Before this past weekend's fixtures the IOG sent its condolences to the family and friends of Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt. IOG CEO Geoff Webb said: "Matt had a bright future in the industry and our thoughts and prayers go to his family following this tragic event."

Aston Villa

And their campaigning across Twitter caught the attention of groundstaff and the public nationwide. So very well done.

Evidence once again of what a caring and close community the UK's turf professionals truly are.
