RECORD TURNOUT FOR CAMPEY
250+ turf professionals attend Open Day

More than 250 turf professionals turned out for the Campey Turf Care Systems Open Day recently – a record turnout for one of their one-day events.

Campey's recent Open Day enjoyed a record turnout

Despite a gloomy weather forecast, wall-to-wall sunshine set the scene for a range of machinery displays and demonstrations across the site - providing the perfect conditions for an enjoyable and educational day.

Representatives from a host of manufacturers were on hand to demonstrate their machines and help with any technical enquiries from visitors.

A steady number of international visitors arrived during the day from as far afield as Hungary, including a party of 20 greenkeepers and groundsmen from Italy organised by Campeys Italian dealer; Actis golf.

A host of machinery brands were on show

The sheer number of well-known brands such as Imants, Koro, Vredo, Dakota, Baroness, Dennis-Sisis, Hunter Grinders, Lastec, Trimax, Countex, Grillo, New Holland, Votex, VGR and GT Air2G2 Injector on show, provided interest for all areas of turf renovation and maintenance.

Richard Gibbs, Senior Stadia Design Consultant for the STRI was the first of the afternoon speakers, delivering a unique insight into the science behind pitch development in stadiums across the world.

Richard Gibbs of the STRI delievers his talk

This was followed by a talk by former top rugby groundsman Jason Booth, the newly-appointed IOG National Manager for grounds and natural turf improvement programmes. Jason’s enthusiasm is infectious and he will be an excellent advocate for presenting the benefits of natural turf surfaces to decision makers at the highest level of the sports industry.

Managing Director of Campey Turf Care, Richard Campey expressed delight at the turnout. “We put a lot of effort into making sure the day is of value. Thanks to all those who took the time to attend. Thanks also to my team who pulled out all the stops to make it happen.”
