Pitchmark has shown its support for Movember by helping to create the World’s Biggest Mo on the ground at Southampton Airport.

The painted moustache measures a massive 250m by 60m.

Inspired by the efforts of gents across the world who cultivate moustaches annually, Southampton Airport decided to create the giant moustache in its grounds to raise awareness of the charity. They approached Pitchmark to help, and they were delighted to offer their assistance. Movember raises money to change the face of men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.

The massive Mo is the length of five Olympic swimming pools and the outline of the Mo is approximately 650 linear meters; which equates to the length of around 6 and a half football pitches.

Pitchmark’s Managing Director, Mark Rodman, said: “Movember is an absolutely fantastic charity and after the initial enquiry from Southampton Airport, we were absolutely delighted to offer our equipment and services.We usually supply line marking equipment for sports pitches, for example we supplied the equipment for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, so to join in and help complete a project like this is quite unique. Having said that, we’ve also recently been involved with the UK’s largest ever commissioned art project, HighWaterLine Bristol, so we’ve been able to use our experience to complete a painting of such a large scale moustache in a small turnaround time! The sports turf industry is male-dominated so hopefully we can contribute to raising not just funds but also awareness of vital issues around men’s health.”
