WILDFLOWER OPEN DAY
To be held by Tillers Turf

Wildflower turf

Turf growers Tillers Turf, who are based in Lincolnshire, have announced a Wildflower Open Day on Tuesday 23rd June 2015.

The company says it promises to be an educational and inspirational day with guest speakers Katie Rushworth from ITV's "Love Your Garden" and Bob Bray a landscape architect, who has been prominent in the design, management and promotion of SuDS for numerous developments.

Katie will be talking about:
Ecological benefits of green space - how and why wildflower meadows add so much more to the landscapes than just an ever changing palette of colour, by benefiting pollinators such as the honey bee and bumble bee that are vital to mankind for pollination, yet these beautiful insects are under considerable pressure from habitat loss. A wildflower meadow full of nectar-producing flowers is a complete eco-system, providing food for a wide range of wildlife and insects.

Bob will be talking about:
SuDs - A solution to a challenge….
Sustainable drainage schemes, both good for water management and wildlife
Biodiversity - support the creation of floristically rich and low-fertility habitats.

Finally their Specialist Turf Manager, Richard Owens, who is passionate about promoting biodiversity on golf courses and won the STRI "Conservation Greenkeeper of the Year Award" in 2014 will be leading a tour around the company's wildflower nurseries.

To find out more about how to create wildflower meadows interested parties are invited along to theopen day, which also includes refreshments and a light lunch.
