B&S TO DEVELOP ROBOT MOWER
Within the next 10 years

Briggs & Stratton
Briggs & Stratton's chairman, president and CEO Todd Teske has said the company plans to focus on developing an autonomous robotic lawnmower next.

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports that Teske set “within 10 years” as the likely time frame for a Briggs-produced robot mower.

Teske shared his lawn mower and power products insights at the May meeting of the Greater Milwaukee Committee. He said that he felt that currently commercially available robotic mowers didn't serve the U.S suburban homeowner with a large lawn well. He also felt the average price of the machines was too high for American consumers.

He is quoted as saying, "We need to have robotics different than what you see in Europe."

Teske went on to outline how the company plans to increase their bottom line by focusing less on cost-cutting and more on product improvement.

The company reported net sales of $1.9 billion in 2014, and net income of $28 million.
