STRI APPOINT SENIOR AGRONOMIST
Simon Barnaby takes up role

Simon Barnaby

STRI has announced that Simon Barnaby has been appointed as Senior Agronomist to support extensive business growth and development across the southern half of the UK.

Simon is a well-known and accomplished figure within the turfgrass industry who has accumulated a wealth of specialist experience over a thirty-year period. Prior to joining STRI, Simon has held a number of senior positions, including Turf Business Technical Manager for Syngenta and International Technical Manager at Scotts Professional, as well as having experience in the fields of Agronomy consultancy, Greenkeeping and Golf Architecture.

Commenting on his new position, Simon said, “I am very excited to be joining STRI as part of the agronomy team. I have always had the uttermost respect for STRI and the work they do within the turf industry. I am particularly pleased about joining them at this exciting time of growth and development within the UK and around the world.”

Alistair Beggs, Head of Agronomy and Ecology said, “Following a rigorous selection process Simon emerged as the outstanding candidate. He is an accomplished manager, communicator and technical specialist and I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming Simon to the Agronomy team on behalf of STRI. I have known Simon for many years and he has fulfilled a number of important roles in our industry throughout this period. His arrival further strengthens our technical base and will help keep STRI at the pinnacle of turf consultancy delivery in the UK and further afield.”

Simon will deliver agronomic advice to clients throughout the UK and Europe, as well as working alongside the agronomy management team to facilitate the development of new business within existing and new sports markets.
