Gardener's charity Perennial, who were recently supported by Turf Pro's sister magazine at our Dealer of the Year awards, have been running a Go Green for Hort Aid campaign for the past fortnight. An example of some of the sort of things people have been getting up to generate sponsorship can be seen on Hort Week's site where they feature Professional Gardeners' Guild chairman and Newnham College, Cambridge head gardener Tony Arnold, who is pictured wearing green lipstick, a wig, nail varnish and green tights to work!
A groundsman celebrating 50 years working in St Albans said he felt “blessed” to reach the milestone anniversary, reported the St Albans & Harpenden Review. Terry Dean has worked at Clarence Park since 1964. He currently works for St Albans specialist grounds maintenance provider, John O’Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd. He told the local paper, "I honestly love my job, if I could do another 50 years I would."
As with all these online viral sensations, after an initial surge of enthusiasm, some fatigue inevitably starts to set in. Port Vale groundsman Steve Speed used a tractor, pitchside at Vale Park to record his after being nominated by youth coach Dean Glover.
And finally Andi Dzilums was out playing golf on the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in western Canada when he saw this little fellow hogging the green. He recorded this bear cub playing around with the flag and uploaded it to Youtube, where it’s already been viewed over 1.6million times.
