CAMP NOU TO INSTALL HYBRID PITCH
In time for next season
Barcelona will be playing home games on a new hybrid pitch next season, with their Tito Vilanova training facility receiving the same treatment, reports the Marca website.
The Camp Nou won't be the only major European club using the state of the art turf as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Paris Saint-Germain already have the surface installed.
The majority of the pitch will still be natural grass, but the Catalan club will also have an artificial grass base to make the pitch more resistant.
There are two stages to installing the pitch: firstly the natural grass is freshly replaced in time for the new league season in August, and then the hybrid reinforcement will be introduced in September during the international break.
The club see the installment as a way of moving level with some of Europe's top stadiums such as the Emirates and the Allianz Arena.
