VOLUNTEER FOR 2016 TPC SAWGRASS
BIGGA members can apply now

TPC Sawgrass
BIGGA are looking for members to volunteer for 2016's Players Championship to prepare the TPC Sawgrass course.

Five lucky members have just retuned from this year's event and the scheme run by BIGGA and John Deere has now opened the application process for next year's competition.

Once again one Full Member from each of BIGGA's five Regions can secure the chance to be involved in the '5th Major'.

Five members will join the maintenance team for the duration of the Players Championship on the PGA Tour with travel, accommodation, subsistence and uniform all included.

There are three stages to the application process. Stage 1 is to register interest by completing a short survey:

Once your availability has been confirmed, BIGGA say details will be emailed to you regarding the next stage. This involves recording a short video - full details will be available on completion of Stage 1.

After this, Stage 3 features Regional interviews with candidates which will take place in November/December.

One of the BIGGA members who has just returned from Florida is Graham Down, Course Manager at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club. He told the BIGGA website, "I knew it would be a special week but it still managed to exceed my expectations, and I would urge members to apply for this opportunity.

"It was a real education working with warm season grasses compared to ours, and also learning about the different cultural practices. Seeing the sheer amount of work that goes on behind the scenes was a real eye-opener, the organisation of the entire event was absolutely fantastic.

"You also meet people from across the world, it's an unbeatable networking opportunity. I'd like to thank John Deere and BIGGA for the opportunity, to Peter Nelder at John Deere for organising everything so flawlessly and to the greenkeepers I was lucky enough to share the week with."
