An undiscovered underground cave could be the cause of an 80-foot-wide, 35-foot-deep sinkhole at Top of the Rock golf course near Branson, Missouri. Since the sinkhole’s appearance last week, geological experts have arrived on the scene to investigate. The course, a Jack Nicklaus design, hosted a Champions Tour last month. The sinkhole isn’t near the main course and will not affect play. The course is in the Ozarks region, where geologists say sinkholes are fairly common due to the area’s karst topography. This means water constantly circulates underground and leads to many sinkholes and caves.
