An annual research event hosted by STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) and attended by hundreds of greenkeepers and groundstaff from across the UK has given valuable insight into the future of the sports turf industry.


STRI Research 2014

STRI Research 2014, held at the company’s research facilities in Bingley, featured demonstrations of innovative products, equipment and techniques currently undergoing scientific trials by the STRI Research team.

A number of STRI’s research partners supported the event demonstrating and sharing their latest trials including Aquatrols/Farmura, Bayer, Campey Turf Care Systems, Everris & Syngenta, Headland Amenity, OGT & Sherriff Amenity and Rigby Taylor.

The two day event provided a valuable insight into the sportsturf management industry and looked at developments and emerging trends which will impact the industry
over the next few years.

Gordon McKillop, Chief Executive, STRI, said: “This year’s event was a huge success and again attracted a great turnout from the industry. The latest insight and knowledge from our own scientists and industry experts was delivered to a wide variety of sports professionals and turf managers. We introduced an additional station for this year and covered topics ranging from nutritional management, disease management and plant health to growing turf in difficult conditions, application tools and methodology, as well as looking at some of the latest technology and machinery.
