The best wau to control weeds in an amenity situation will be the core theme of one of the sessions at the Amenity Forum’s conference being held on October 13th at the Pirelli Stadium, Burton on Trent with three presentations followed by discussion with the audinece.
Andrew Diprose from Ubiqutek will examine the place for non-chemical approaches and he will be followed by Barrie Hunt from Monsanto who will focus on the place for pesticides in weed control programmes.
Ruth Mann from STRI will then address what might be involved in creating an integrated management plan.
The Amenity Forum says there are, throughout the day’s programme, some excellent speakers addressing all the key issues facing the sector including Tony Sangwine from Highways England who will focus on the particular weed, pest and disease problems impacting upon them and the importance of their control.
Elsewhere the chief executives of BIGGA and IOG will address similar issues for their sectors, Grant Stark from the Chemical Regulations Division will address policy matters, focussing especially upon sustainable pesticide use, and there will be presentations from senior people in the property, lawncare and water industries addressing why weed, pest and disease control is important to them.
The conference will also see announcements on a number of innovations and initiatives. This will include the formal launch of the Amenity Forum’s campaign to increase awareness of the importance of the amenity sector and to demonstrate that effective weed, pest and disease control is important for every UK citizen.
