CRICKET SEMINAR DATE ANNOUNCED
By Dennis and Sisis

Back by popular demand, Dennis & SISIS’s cricket groundsmen seminar will be returning on 8 March 2016 at Durham County Cricket Club.

For the groundsmen, by the groundsmen, Dennis and SISIS say their cricket seminar has become a firm fixture in a cricket groundsman’s diary. The day offers all delegates an opportunity to refresh their education on a variety of topics and is a great chance to meet other like-minded individuals, share and gain knowledge and learn best practices.

Dennis & Sisis cricket seminar

Last year’s seminar, held at St Albans School Trust, brought together cricket groundsmen representing grass roots, schools, local clubs and international test venues. With a great line-up of guest speakers and industry experts, delegate figures are expected to be high once again.

The morning will kick-start with Ian Powell, regional pitch advisor for the Institute of Groundsmanship, offering advice on Spring Renovation on a Budget, before Vic Demain, head groundsman at Durham CCC, reveals all in his seminar entitled A Groundsman’s Life.

Morning refreshments will be followed by Tom Flintoff – former head groundsmen for Durham CCC, Vic Demain and Chris Wood – ECB pitch consultant, discussing the development of the Emirates Durham International Cricket ground in a presentation titled Past, Present and Future. All delegates will then get the opportunity to ask any questions they may have for Tom, Vic and Chris.

A complimentary lunch will signal the halfway point and will also provide an excellent opportunity to network with other delegates.

Those who work in grass roots and local cricket clubs will be particularly interested in the first seminar of the afternoon – in which Dave Leighton, ECB club programmes manager, will present Get the Game On – Club Support and Service. Many delegates will then no doubt relate to Barry Glynn’s (a volunteer groundsman) presentation on the Frustrations of a Cricket Groundsman.

The ECB’s Chris Wood will then return to the stage to offer tips on best practices in Pitch Rolling before rounding the presentations off with a unique behind-the-scenes-look at International Pitch Inspections.

The day will be concluded with informal discussions in which all delegates will get the opportunity to ask any questions they may have to a host of industry professionals including the seminar’s guest speakers.

Attendance to this informative seminar is FREE and seats are expected to be filled extremely fast. To register your interest please contact Roger Moore at Dennis & SISIS on 01332 824777 or email Roger on roger.moore@dennisuk.com
