Following a unanimous decision by a judging panel of hire industry executives, the STIHL TSA 230 cordless cut-off saw has been named Winner of the Executive Hire Show's Innovation Trail 2015.
Thirty new products competed for a spot on the Show's Innovation Trail and the TSA 230 appeared among ten short-listed finalists to earn one of the coveted floor plaques that highlight the most Innovative New Products at the Show. It was then announced the ultimate 'Winner' - underpinning not only its innovation but also its appeal.
Products entered for the Trail were evaluated for their identification and addressing of market needs in areas like legislation, emissions, sustainability and productivity, plus a quintessential quality of 'hireability'. The STIHL cordless cut-off saw clearly proved itself, and indeed each of the hirers on the judging panel stated they would be adding the new tool to their own product fleets.
Commenting on the superb response to the new cordless tool, Steve Parkin - National Sales Manager for STIHL GB said, "We are delighted to have been named Innovation Trail Winner with this exciting product. The hire sector is particularly demanding of power tools, so we truly value this credit for our latest innovation. There was great and really positive interest in the new cut-off saw at the Show, and it was good to meet so many familiar and new contacts, so our thanks to all who visited the stand."
The world's first cordless 230mm cut-off saw, the STIHL TSA 230 has a quality EC motor and 36 V Lithium-ion power. For wet and dry-cutting both in and outdoors its impressive and emission-free performance opens multiple new applications including interior renovations and decorative work. With a cutting depth up to 70mm and with a particularly smooth cut, the STIHL TSA 230 is ideal for cutting fragile roof tiles for example, and cuts up to 48 clay tiles lengthwise with one recommended AP 180 battery charge. Its zero emissions mean it is also perfect for use indoors - cutting cable chases in walls for instance.
An accessory hose attachment allows dry-cutting dust extraction as well as enabling users to set a precise cutting depth. Naturally the cut-off saw is also suited to conventional wet-cutting of concrete and stone; its compact design, low weight and familiar STIHL controls ensure it is great to handle and easy to use.
STIHL innovation has been applied not just to the product concept but also to its design; indeed the TSA 230 cut-off saw incorporates a number of special features to account for its extended applications. A shut-off valve on the water inlet for example, prevents dust ingress when water is not used, and magnets in the machine casing attract metal filings away from the motor and battery compartments. Users will appreciate that cutting wheels are fitted more simply than ever thanks to a new spindle lock button on the drive belt casing, and the new model is also really easy to maintain - its quality electric motor requires minimal servicing and there is not even an air filter to clean or replace.
The STIHL TSA 230 cordless cut-off saw is available now from STIHL Approved Dealers and priced at £329.00 ex VAT (RRP excluding battery and charger). The recommended AP 180 battery and a standard charger total £180.00 ex VAT, and as part of the STIHL cordless family, can be used to power any of eight alternative power tools (a total 15 models) available in the cordless range.
