FORMULA E RELIES ON MAKITA
Cordless technology in use on circuit

Makita’s cordless power tool technology and lithium-ion battery cell expertise is supporting the new FIA Formula E Championship – the world’s first all-electric racing series.

Makita high-performance power tools have been chosen by the 10 Formula E race teams taking part in the new, global single-seater series, which races entirely on street circuits, which began in Beijing on September 13 2014.

Makita's cordless technology is being used on the Formula E circuit

Makita cordless blowers, impact wrenches, drills and polishers will be used by the Formula E teams which include the likes of leading IndyCar team Andretti, Virgin Racing, backed by Sir Richard Branson, e.dams-Renault, owned by four-time Formula One World Champion Alain Prost AND Mahindra Racing backed by the Mahindra industrial and automotive group from India.

Formula E is the FIA’s new fully-electric single-seater championship designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans, whilst accelerating the interest in electric vehicles and promoting sustainability. Competing entirely on city-centre circuits – with races in China, Malaysia, Uruguay, Argentina, US, Monaco, Germany and the UK – it uses cars capable of speeds in excess of 150mph (225kph).
