FARMING TAKES TO SOCIAL MEDIA
Intitiative portrays round the clock activity of farmers and their suppliers

#farm24

From 5.00 am on Thursday 20 August to 5.00 am on Friday 21 August, #farm24 has been an initiative via social media to show the general public that the farming industry operates round the clock, every day.

Organised by Farmers Guardian, the magazine has just reported that #farm24 was viewed more than 23 million times in the 24 hour period. Coverage of the event stretched across the world with media interviews as far away as Australia and the United States.

Ben Briggs, news and business editor of Farmers Guardian said "We have been staggered at the response and reaction to Farm 24 which exceeded all of our expectations.  Only a few hours after it closed, we haven't yet had the opportunity to assess the full impact, but there is little doubt that an initiative like this in support of farmers and farming could be repeated - and given the response we have had from the US and Australia, could even turn into a global event"

JD dealer Tallis Amos Group fully participated and posted a number of videos showing the work of technicians and also the overnight delivery of parts to the depot.

Whilst not referencing the Farm 24 event directly Prime Minister David Cameron said, “Farming and food production are a fundamental part of our rural community. We will keep on backing British farmers to sell more home-grown food by liberating them from red tape and opening up new multi-million export markets.”
