The company were approached by Allett Mowers about the prospect of selling the limited edition cylinder lawnmower, which had been specifically produced in support of The Eve Appeal within their online store – with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the charity.
As the cause of gynaecological cancer is one close to the hearts of the company, 5 limited edition lawnmowers were purchased and auctioned online using popular e-commerce website Ebay. To date the company have been successful in selling three of the five purchased lawnmowers; with a view to auctioning the two remaining items in the near future.
Calvin Pigott, Director of Just Lawnmowers said: “Unfortunately, we have been touched at the company by cancer, two of which were gynaecological related cancers. Therefore, anything we could do to help raise awareness of these deadly cancers and the need to raise vital funds to aid research was without question, something we wanted to get involved in. We hope to be able to work closely with Allett Mowers and The Eve Appeal again in the future”.
Ruthie Whiter, an Eve Appeal spokesperson commented: “The incredible money that has been raised so far will aid our research into risk prediction, early detection and possible prevention of gynaecological cancers.
“At The Eve Appeal we know how devastating a diagnosis of gynaecological cancer can be, and we’re determined to change the lives of women through our world-class research programmes. This simply couldn’t be achieved without the continued support of companies such as Just Lawnmowers and Allett Mowers.”
In September, The Eve Appeal launched their latest research programme FORECEE (4C) which seeks to develop one test on a cervical smear sample to predict the risk of four female cancers; breast, cervical, ovarian and womb. This project could change healthcare across Europe and potentially save significantly more women’s lives.
