NEW NFU PRESIDENT Meurig Raymond succeeds Peter Kendall
Meurig Raymond has been elected NFU President to succeed Peter Kendall, who has stepped down after eight years.
Mr Raymond runs family farms in Pembrokeshire, with a 620-cow dairy herd and beef and lamb fattening enterprise, while also growing combinable crops and potatoes.
Wiltshire farmer Minette Batters (pictured) was elected NFU deputy president, the first female elected to NFU high office in the union's 106-year history. Ms Batters was elected in the first round of voting, defeating Warwickshire farmer Adam Quinney who was ousted as an NFU officeholder after two years.
Essex farmer Guy Smith was elected NFU vice-president. Mr Smith, who has widespread media experience and has a self-professed passion for explaining the industry to non-farming audiences.
