BRIGGS & STRATTON
Promoting the power of products and people

Briggs & Stratton - Stand no. A20

Briggs & Stratton will showcase the most recent addition to its range at IOG Saltex 2013 the new 150cc 600E-SERIES OHV single-cylinder vertical shaft engine which has been designed to deliver premium power and features specifically to the mid-market walk-behind category.

In addition, the company will also be sponsoring Service Dealer’s new Heritage Awards, which aim to identify products, people, companies and key innovations within the garden machinery, turfcare and outdoor power equipment industry.

The awards are an ideal match for Briggs & Stratton, a brand which works closely with dealers and distributors to provide training, assistance and parts and end product manufacturers by providing the engines needed to power equipment.

Briggs & Stratton’s UK marketing manager, Ian Small, said: “The turfcare industry is constantly innovating and evolving by creating quality and fuel efficient of products. The market has faced some tough challenges over the last few years and I am always impressed when I hear about companies and individuals defying these challenges to come up with exciting innovations.  “Whether its dealers, end product or component manufacturers, it’s important to award and encourage companies and individuals who have really made a difference to the industry and Saltex is the perfect platform to announce the winners.”

The company is currently running its consumer facing competition, Britain’s Best Lawn, which closed at the end of July. The competition has always been successful in highlighting the value of a traditional lawn, this element has never been more important following a recent decision by a London park to dig up its lawns and replace them with plants and herbs, which has regenerated considerable media interest in the whole debate about the value of lawns. Increasingly media space is devoted to the subject but there is very little coverage in favour of lawns.

NEW 600E-Series

Core to the new 600E-SERIES Engine is the reduced exhaust emissions together with a broad array of performance and feature benefits which deliver meaningful value to the end-consumer.  The 600E model provides true value power, featuring Overhead Valve (OHV) technology, mechanical governor, float feed carburetor with paper air cleaner and a Super Lo-Tone™ muffler. In addition, the new 600E features the patented ReadyStart® starting system which makes the engine extremely easy to start.

The engine boasts an extremely efficient design which enables it to deliver 8.5Nm of gross torque at 2’600rpm from a 150cc cylinder displacement. At 8.2kg dry weight, the engine produces an exceptionally good power-to-weight ratio, delivering enough power without unnecessary weight to make it easier to cut through longer and thicker grass.

The New 600E-SERIES Engine platform has been designed and manufactured to meet the new E-SERIES environmental standards set by the company back in 2011.  In line with those stringent standards, the new 600E engine surpasses the current European exhaust emissions regulations by at least 25%1.  The new 600E provides not only significantly reduced exhaust emissions which are well below the current European emissions standards, but they also offer improved sound and tonal quality.
