LET THE PEOPLE SPEAK!
Nominations now open for the Heritage Awards

Chris Biddle
THIS is it then.

This is the time for you to put on your thinking caps, be opinionated (never a problem where one or more dealers are gathered together in my experience), dust off those prejudices, think laterally and delve into the memory bank.

Simply, we want YOUR views on which machines, which companies and which people have shaped the grasscare industry industry during the 20th and into the 21st century

Your nominations will shape the eventual results of the 2013 Heritage Awards - a unique event to mark the 25th Anniversary of Service Dealer.

There is an oft-quoted saying in the industry - dealers sell what they want sell.

Maybe they have an over-stock of machines bought in haste or ill-judgement, but actually most dealers latch on certain models because they are simply a favourite of theirs.

They sell those in confidence. To quote the redoubtable Gerry Cohen “I like to sell machines that don’t come back - to people who do”.

I know from my years in a garden machinery showroom (yonks ago), that if a customers came through the door with a £200 price ticket in his eyes, I would steer him towards a .......... (fill in the gap because I don’t to reveal my favourites)

But there are no boundaries in these Awards, nominated machines may be well have been put out to grass long ago, or they may be more recent introductions. The decision is yours - and I for one can’t wait to see the early suggestions . .
