Thoughts on feedback

As an independent publication, we style ourselves the 'Voice of the Industry' - and therefore feedback from readers is absolutely vital.

We need to know what dealers think about the issues of the day as reported in this weekly on-line 'newspaper'.  It is YOUR forum for debate. News stories to be welcomed by some -  fiercely opposed or disputed by others.

We are proud of the fact that Service Dealer is the only regular news source for sales and service dealers - and the only one that enables it's readers to 'join in'.

But in this age of social media comes greater responsibility.  Both for ourselves - and for those who choose to comment.

Recently we found a few flaws in the Comment facility.  First it was possible to post comments without being registered as a subscriber to the newsletter, and we were unable to check the source (that has been corrected).

Next, as a business-to-business publication in a close knit community, we wish to maintain the integrity of the responses. We have recently modified the facility so that  Comments are approved (moderated) by the Service Dealer team before being viewable to others.

It is not our wish to censor or stifle genuine comments or concerns, quite the reverse. But nor do we want to open the floodgates for unregulated posting which can be removed - but only after the damage is done.

Of course, if you have any Comments on the above, we'd be pleased to hear them!
