THEFTS FROM DEALERSHIPS

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at a Somerton, Somerset  garden machinery dealership. The burglary occurred at Lee Holmes Garden Machinery at a  business park on Bancombe Road between 8.15pm and 8.35pm on October 13.

Three men were seen in a light-coloured van, similar to a Citroen Berlingo or Renault Kangoo, forcing entry into the building. They stole garden machinery including new model strimmers, chainsaws and blowers. Multi-attachment tools, branded either Stihl or Gardencare, were also taken along with some second-hand chain saws. Anyone who witnessed the burglary, knows who is responsible or has been offered garden machinery for sale in suspicious circumstances, is asked to contact police on 101.

AGRICULTURAL equipment worth more than £40,000 has been stolen in a raid on a Market Harborough business. It was taken from Kirby Agricultural in Leicester Road, after the firm’s compound was broken into some time between 2pm on Saturday, October 6 and 8am on Monday, October 8.

Police say a ‘substantial amount’ of agricultural equipment was taken in the raid. PC Gary Hunt is investigating the incident. He said: “We believe that the perpetrators may attempt to sell the items to scrap metal dealers and we have been carrying out enquiries to try and locate the property.

“We do urge anyone who has been approached by someone selling these items or maybe knows someone who has acquired some agricultural equipment to contact us. “The equipment is valuable and will end up costing the company some considerable amount money to replace.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 316 Gary Hunt on the 101 hotline.
