THE SEARCH IS ON AGAIN To find Britain's Best Lawn
Briggs & Stratton is inviting people with lawns of all shapes and sizes to enter a competition to find the best garden lawn in Britain.
The competition, which is now in its ninth year, awards the prestigious title of Britain’s Best Lawn to winners from all corners of the country. Briggs & Stratton is once again looking for gardeners who are passionate about their lawns.
The overall winner of this year’s competition will not only be awarded the title but will also win a walk behind cylinder Atco lawnmower, a selection of tools from Wilkinson Sword and a day’s gardening services of lawn expert and author, Martin Fish.
Entries will be judged by a panel of keen eyed judges and lawn experts and there will also be prizes for two runners up.
Speaking about the competition, Briggs & Stratton’s Ian Small said: “This is a fantastic competition which really accentuates the importance of the British lawn and the hard work that goes into maintaining it.”
“We want to see lawns of all different shapes and sizes in this year’s competition and gardeners of all ages and abilities, we’re not judging the entries on size or the owner’s experience but on the quality of the turf.”
Last year’s winning lawns are owned by husband and wife team - Malcolm and Sandra Rogers - from Lincolnshire who dedicate up to 10 hours a day on maintaining their “his and hers” lawns. Malcolm’s lawn is a very formal affair formal affair with beautiful stripes and colourful borders contrasting sharply with Sandra’s wildlife meadow with walkways cut through for ease of access.
