FOND FAREWELL TO MIKE
Large turnout at BTME to remember journalistic colleague
IN the course of a busy BTME show, almost 50 fellow journalists, exhibitors, trade colleagues and others gathered to drink a toast to Mike Beadall who died unexpectedly in December.
Organised by Charmian Robson, together with Fiona Gebbett and Tony Evans of Pan Publicity, a champagne reception was held in the Press Centre, during which Service Dealer editor, Chris Biddle, gave a short tribute to Mike describing him a role model. "Mike was simply a bloody good journalist. Someone who had gained considerable professional experience in the national press before coming to the specialist groundscare sector.
"Whether as a mentor, colleague or friend, Mike was held in great esteem by everyone with whom he worked and socialised. His professionalism was an example and spur to us, and set standards to which we all aspired.
"There is a huge gap in this year's show. We all expect to bump into Mike, carrying a host of cameras and grabbing the nearest chair to stand on to take the 'perfect' picture.
"Mike Beardall will never be forgotten by any of us".
