BUCKLE BECOMES TUCKWELL
Six month period of integration is completed

James Tuckwell, left, with Gary Buckle

FOLLOWING the acquisition of John Deere dealership J E Buckle Ltd by P Tuckwell Ltd in June 2012, the Buckle outlets at Cromer in Hertfordshire and Maulden in Bedfordshire have recently finalised the change in trading name to P Tuckwell Ltd.

The combined business, now one of the largest and longest established John Deere dealers in the UK, employs over 140 staff at seven sites from Suffolk to Bedfordshire, representing the full line of John Deere agricultural, homeowner and professional turf products. Looking back to the early planning stages of the transition, former J E Buckle managing director Gary Buckle says:

“Delivering the best sales and service solutions to our customers has always been a top priority for us, and we fully understood that as a lone and relatively small-scale operation, J E Buckle was more exposed to the future challenges of farm and turf machinery distribution. Our customers will require enhanced services and product solutions from us in the future, and we knew that we had to be part of something bigger to be able to provide these.”

The J E Buckle business therefore joined the Tuckwell Group on 1st June 2012, and retained the Buckle trading name for a period of six months. All the staff have remained with the new business at the existing outlets, and the Buckle family now carry out additional duties as directors of P Tuckwell Ltd.

“We have been pleased with how similar the friendly and flexible cultures of our businesses are, so naturally they have integrated well,” says James Tuckwell, joint managing director of P Tuckwell Ltd. “We have been looking at working practices, developing best practice and investing in extra resources where required, and we have some exciting changes to come.”

During a recent open day at the P Tuckwell Ltd outlet at Cromer, both sales director Gary Buckle and James Tuckwell had the opportunity to meet many customers and staff.
