LOTTERY GRANT FOR MOWER SALE
Village committee's successful application
A local field, attached to Pillerton Village Hall, has been guaranteed a bright and green future thanks to a dedicated committee, a lottery grant, and a Cub Cadet lawn mower.

Maintenance of the field was proving a problem for the village hall committee. It was originally cut by committee member Hazel Smith’s husband until he passed away, at which point her son took over the responsibility, using an old tractor. With such a family legacy attached to the field, when the old tractor was removed, they knew that getting a replacement was hugely important so took action.
The committee found that the only way to get a suitable machine was to apply for a lottery grant, which is exactly what they did.
Committee member, Richard Thompson, set about researching suitable mowers. “I own a Cub Cadet”, he commented, “and so already know the quality is fantastic. Following some further research on the internet we went to F N Pile and Sons, our local Cub Cadet Dealer, and took their guidance on the best model for us.”
Just six weeks after applying for the £5199 grant, the specific amount to pay in full for their machine of choice, it was approved and the funds transferred allowing the committee to purchase a brand new Z-FORCE S48 Cub Cadet machine.
Andrew Bolter from F N Pile and Sons said: “We have sold a lot of Z-FORCE S48’s in the past with great success and so when Richard initially enquired we knew this was the mower for the village hall.”
The machine is already a huge hit, with David Stratham, another committee member, commenting that “It is very quick and nimble. I am very impressed”.
Martin Wasley, Sales and Technical Manager for Cub Cadet, said: “We are thrilled that the Pillerton Village Hall committee opted for a Cub Cadet machine to look after this very important piece of community land. Village greens are a vital part of village life, and we are sure that there will be no lack of volunteers to cut the grass now! Lottery grants can be a great way to help communities like this, particularly with such a quick turnaround of six weeks!”
