FRIGGATRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA
Fear of Friday 13th!

Chris Biddle

Friggatriskaidekaphobia - that got the spelling checker working overtime!

According to a survey, almost a third of Britons would rather spend today under the duvet, ready to hide from the 'perils' of our unlucky day.

Scientists have even tried to quantify its impact . They concluded after a study comparing Friday 6th with Friday 13th over several years, "There were consistently and significantly fewer vehicles on the southern section of the M25 on Friday the 13th compared with Friday the 6th. The numbers of shoppers were not significantly different on the two days. Admissions due to transport accidents were significantly increased on Friday 13th - although there were fewer cars on the road"

So you can file that with all the other surveys that say coffee is good/bad for you; red wine is good/bad for you etc etc . . .

Woke up this morning to discover that the news from Perth was not at all bad - however it wasn't long before the Aussies played their 'get out of jail card' - so in the space of a couple of hours Friday 13th reverted to type.

And that was before I tried to boot up my computer this morning to find gremlins on the hard drive . .

However, against all that, we've signed off the new look Service Dealer today - I think it looks super.  It's milder outside than September. Salisbury has a terrific Christmas Market with loads of local food producers and independent businesses.

As ever, the 'glass half-empty' people will have a field-day today -  and those of the 'glass half-full' persuation will find plenty to delight.

Seasonal greetings
