OBITUARY: LIBBY HASKELL Worked many years for M J Abbott
Chris Biddle writes
"This has been a sad week. My sister Libby was taken ill three weeks ago, admitted to the intensive care unit at Odstock Hospital, Salisbury but died last Saturday. Her husband, Pete and two children Lucy and Steve, together with Trish and I were with her when she passed away. She was 67.
"We were a very close, and enjoyed many holidays together with our families both in the UK and abroad. Libby will be sadly missed by us all."
As the only children of Steve and Peggy Biddle, Chris and Libby were brought up in the farm and tufcare business. Steve was long-time managing director of the Wilton farm and grasscare dealership A Brewer & Co, having started his career with International Harvester.
Whilst Chris worked in the business, and then went on to a life of journalism, Libby worked for many years for golf course and sportsground contractors, M J Abbott based at Dinton where she was involved in the estimating and contract preparation for many of the high profile contracts won by Abbott over the years including the rebuild of the Celtic Manor golf course in preparation for the Ryder Cup.
Away from work, Pete and Libby loved boating, and spent many hours on their motor boat moored at Cobbs Quay, Poole, making regular trips over to the Channel Islands and France. Her son Steve works for Sunseeker at Poole, whilst daughter Lucy is a nurse with BAE Systems at Filton, Bristol.
