THE SHOW MUST GO ON . .
Husqvarna demo nearly sunk

Husqvarna demo unit
ORGANISING field days in October can be something of a lottery with the weather, which is what the Husqvarna team found during their stop at Sparsholt College near Winchester this week.

Husqvarna are currently staging a series of hands-on demo days which has taken them from Scotland, the North East of England, South-East and into Herefordshire. Arriving from a successful day at Capel Manor, the team arrived at the Hampshire agricultural college on Tuesday night to prepare for the event on Wednesday.

All the kit is being transported in the Husqvarna 40ft show unit, and when the driver drove the truck into the field - it immediately sank to the axles.

Tractor and fork lifts were ‘whistled up’ from the Sparsholt farm, but with the rain lashing down, the unit only sank further into the muddy mire.

“By which time it was dark” says Husqvarna’s Kevin Ashmore “so we decided to leave it where it was”. The driver “who was superb” normally sleeps in the cab bunk, which that night was far from level!

At first light, bigger tractors, a couple of fork lifts arrived on the scene - and the truck was eventually extricated just before the event was due to open
.
“Despite that” says Kevin “we had another successful day which showed the value of hands-on demos”
