COMBINE HARVESTER ACCIDENT KILLS FARM WORKER
71 year old man in Aberdeenshire
An accident involving a combine harvester killed a 71 year old farm worker near the village of New Deer, Aberdenshire this week.
STV reported that Ian Chalmers died at the scene of the incident at 3.30pm on Tuesday. The news source said a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) first response team gave the man oxygen while he was treated by paramedics, but he died shortly afterwards.STV quoted a spokesman for Police Scotland saying, "Officers attended a farm in the New Deer area at 3.15pm on Tuesday following reports of a seriously injured man. “Sadly, the 71-year-old died at the scene as a result of his injuries. There are no suspicious circumstances and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed." An SFRS spokeswoman added: “Our first response team were called and assisted the ambulance service and the police. They gave the man oxygen.”
