PETER ABBEY Death of long time New Holland employee
Peter Abbey, who masterminded many of the New Holland shows and events during the 1960/70s died on 5 October after a long illness.
Peter joined New Holland when they operated out of the old Sperry premises in Stroud before the company's move to Aylesbury. Former colleague Kent Smeaton remembers his attention to detail on show stands " Miles of string was laid out side to side, corner to corner, to determine the exact positioning of each machine, before the application of tyre black, often the job of not-so-cooperative trainees"
Another colleague, Mike Hughes says that Peter was an enthusiastic founder member of The Hayliners group, organising the annual Hayliners Brunch "His passion for bringing so many ex-employes of New Holland together year after year was genuine"
