BITTER SWEET WEEKEND Cricket club win title - but machinery store cleaned out
Last weekend, South Wilts Cricket Club won the ECB Southern Electric Premier League but suffered the loss of all their mowing equipment.
A thief broke into the Salisbury sports club and spent more than four hours dismantling mowers and turf maintenance machinery before stealing the engines.
Salisbury & South Wilts Sports Club has been left counting the cost after the thief, who was captured on CCTV, made off with engines worth about £500 each and will cost the club more than £4,000 in repairs.
Head of grounds Jon Williams said: “Our final matches are this week and I’m down to one machine. The team has had great success this season, and we were looking to renovate the whole the square shortly”
