With 2017 coming to a close, the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute wishes its members, partners and other industry professionals a safe and happy holiday season. It was an exciting year for the outdoor power equipment industry, and as we reflect on the past year — and look toward the next — we’d like to share our most-read stories from 2017. From May 25: Husqvarna CLG has a new visual identity and name to match. The company said in a statement, "Husqvarna Professional has been developed to clearly communicate the professional nature, whilst maintaining the integrity of Husqvarna’s core brand and communication identity." The change from Husqvarna CLG or Husqvarna Commercial Lawn & Garden to give it its full title comes as a way of making Husqvarna’s commercial activity more easily recognizable.

From Nov. 21: Caterpillar introduced its first-ever utility vehicle to meet a growing demand for tough work utility vehicles – while also expanding the company’s reach into the consumer market. I routinely sought Fred’s guidance and direction,“ said Kris Kiser, President & CEO of OPEI. “He sought solutions and fundamentally understood compromise in the furtherance of consensus. This is a genuine skill and key in operating a successful trade association of competitors. We will miss him.”

From Nov. 21: TaskEasy, a nationwide on-demand lawn maintenance provider, had an oversubscribed $21.3 million Series C round led by River Cities Capital with participation from new investors Camber Creek, as well as existing investors Moderne Ventures, Grotech Ventures, Access Venture Partners and Delta Electronics Capital. The funding, from a mix of financial and strategic investors, comes after TaskEasy’s latest milestone of delivering more than 1 million services and will be used to expedite company growth and product development.
