IN PRAISE OF OUR INDUSTRY
Extensive TV and radio coverage this week.

Two very different programmes this week shone a positive light on the garden machinery industry.

First, celebrated columnist Quentin Letts hosted a 30 minute programme last Wednesday on BBC Radio 4 called "What's the point of  . . lawns".  The programme was promoted extensively the previous Saturday in a full page feature in the Daily Mail written by Quentin Letts called 'My love affair with the great British Lawn' in which he confessed his obsession with the lawn, and talked to Brian Radam and Mike Seaton of The Lawn Companyamongst others.

He concluded, "The lawn is an emblem of Albion and it makes the rest of the world go green - with envy"

Meanwhile, as a riposte to the oft-heard phrase "We don't make anything in this country any more", the Top Gear team staged an ambitious and audacious stunt to assemble as many British -made automotive vehicles in the Mall as they caould attract. It was an impressive sight, featuring a range of cars, commercial vehicles, construction equipment, lorries, vans, racing cars, tractors (represented by New Holland) and garden tractors (represented by Countax).

The sight of a fleet of three Countax tractors lined up alongside an Aston Martin and Red Bull F1 car was the stuff of a Heiniken advert!

Read the Daily Mail article, listen to the Radio 4 programme and watch the Top Gear programme on our website  (programmes only available for a limited period)
