GARDEN MEDIA GUILD AWARDS
Presented this week

Alan Titchmarsh addresses the guests at the ceremony
Two major garden machinery companies supported the annual Garden Media Guild Awards which took place this Wednesday (November 27th) at London's InterContinentel Hotel, Park Lane.

Briggs & Stratton sponsored the Trade Journalist of the Year Award, which was won by Sarah Cosgrove of Horticulture Week. This prize was judged from three pieces of work, with Sarah's winning submissions being 'Higher Course Fees Deter Career Changers', 'Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Contract will Redefine Parks Work, Says Landscape Group', and 'Landform Appointed to Create Gibraltar's First Public Park'.

Stihl sponsored the Journalist of the Year Award, which was won by Matthew Wilson of the Financial Times. Again this prize was judged on three submitted pieces of work, these being; 'Japan's Rite of Spring'; 'Turkish Delight'; and 'A Tree Worth Puzzling Over'.

During the lunch guests heard an impassioned plea from Alan Titchmarsh for togetherness in the garden industry and a fascinating talk by Dr David Hessayon, reminiscing about his life in the industry.
