HONDA TO ENTER BATTERY MARKET
Handheld range coming in 2016
Honda is to enter the fast-growing battery-powered handheld Lawn & Garden market in Europe for the 2016 season, extending its handheld line-up beyond four-stroke petrol power for the first time.
 Honda's battery range
The first products to be introduced will be a hedge trimmer, grass trimmer and leaf blower. Manufactured by Chervon, one of the leading electric motor and battery manufacturers in the world, the products will be offered with a choice of two batteries and two chargers. Honda say the move will widen the appeal of their Lawn & Garden offering by increasing the breadth of its range to suit customers’ needs and preferences. It comes at a time of a clear move towards battery-powered Lawn & Garden products, with Honda believing that battery technology is now developed adequately to offer high performance, long run-time and fast charging. Pierre Vallet, Director of Honda Motor Europe Power Product division said, "While many customers still appreciate the capability, performance and power of petrol-powered handhelds, more and more are starting to see the convenience and usability of battery-powered products, making this a natural move for Honda to extend its product range to a wider customer base. With the growing trend towards battery-powered products in general, this is the perfect time for us to enter the market, and we plan to grow the range further in the future.” Honda’s new handheld range will be offered across its entire European sales network from Spring 2016. Full details including specifications and pricing will be announced in January 2016.
