SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW . .
Sheer diversity of products populate our Awards

Chris Biddle
IT has often been said “Dealers sell what they want to sell”. Over the years, we have had our favourite products, our ‘banker’ machines, those that we could happily sell to customers in the knowledge that as specialists we were being asked to give advice and guidance.

Those favourites varied over the years, they varied from dealer to dealer, from region to region.

So when we asked you to nominate machines for our Heritage Awards, the sheer diversity of products that ‘floated the boat’ for dealers was extraordinary. Some were old favourites, often no longer in production, others of much more recent vintage.

Many of the nominations were because of an emotional tie, rather than how popular they were, or the volume sold.

And how we would have loved to have made it simply a Best of British, but in today's international age, that is simply impractical.

The final short-list represent those products that were nominated most frequently - and our original intention was to have short-list of just four or five products for each category. But in the end, we decided to make the list as representative as possible - and so there are seven of the top nominees in each of the seven categories.

The final list will be subject to debate and discussion - and that is how it should be!

Now its up to you to vote for YOUR choice.

Voting closes in just over two weeks time, and we would would like as many people as possible to have their say in the eventual winners to be announced at SALTEX
